Sunset Dandelion 2

Here is another frame from the dandelion seris that I did earlier this week. This is a frame with a little diferent exposure values than the one I posted on viewfinder. It is a hand held shot with the 105mm macro positioning the dandelion between the lens and the setting sun. I'm very interested in your nits on this one. Thanks in advance.

I prefer the viewfinder version for its more saturated color and stronger silhouetting but I would have loved this one as well had I not seen the other.

I agree about the more saturated colors, but I retained more shadow detail in this exposure and thought that it may have been better. Thanks for your thought on the matter, that is what I was after.

Yeah...I'm a sucker for silhouettes, so take my preference in this with a grain of salt.

Very original ,im gonna have to try doing one of those if my wife does not kill all the dandelions this year .
It should be another month before the come out here , got 2 inches of snow monday but it melted in about 2 hours :)

I have to say that I find this just outstanding. Great concept.

I think everything's been said already except for: 'I can't believe you killed a dandelion just for the sake of a photography!!!!!'' :D :p :D

I like the other one better, and this one is excellent! Might try some fill flash or use a reflector, I dont know how it would affect the image, might ruin it.
I don't recall seeing this done before. And it is very well done.

I'm a little suprised that this image has gotten as much praise as it has. I'm humbled by the kind word. I was working so fast with this shot and was standing along side a very busy road while doing it. The idea for the image had been floating around for a while but I hadn't acted on it. The sun seem just right at the moment and even though the tri pod was at home and I had to hand hold the object in one hand and the camera in the other it turned out fairly decent. And Mark I had never even considered the use of a little fill here, but it might be something to think about the next time.

You know OT, I think this is one of the best photographs I have seen from you.
I like the warm colors, and how it fades from yellow at the top to the dark at the bottom.
The composition is good as well, good use of the "rule of thirds".

:mad: Oooo! you're so lucky OT! But Im comin' after you man! I got home tonight and saw so many ripe blonde Dandys, but the sun was down! So I thought what about a candle? Yes, a candle will work just fine! So I burned up two weeds in short order and thought just one more time! And then I set the livin room on fire! So today was you're luky day! :D :p ;)

OT... This is such a sensitive shot! The best ive seen from you.. I like it better than the one you posted in viewfinder. It has such subtle beauty. You really did good.

That is plain striking. I wish I could add something that people wouldn't have already said but I can't. I have been enjoying your recent flower series and I think that this is one of your greatest ever (from what I can recall at the very least).

I absolutely love this image.... Definately a wall-hanger.

An idea for #3 is to fudge your white balance to cool the sky down in that kind of eery blue you see now and then (if shot in RAW just do it in capture.)
