Nikon Transfer application- Loosing my EXIF file
I was not sure if I should put this question here or in the Nikon Camera section since this is Nikon software specific.

The latest photos I have uploaded to my user gallery are missing the EXIF data.
This started when I switched to the Nikon Transfer application. I must have a preference set wrong however I have looked thru the application and not found the feature.

When I look/review at the RAW file in ViewNX the EXIF data is present. Very Strange.

    Any suggestions?

Thank you for your time and expertise.

Usually it's stripped during the conversion to JPG. A 'Save For Web', for instance. - TF

    Thanks OC,
I usually use PS7 to convert RAW to jpeg, and resize for uploading here on PR.

    OC or others,
Is there away [PS setting] to keep the EXIF data attached to the jpeg?

    TF,

Any way to make not strip off the EXIF data on conversion?

If you resize and then do a regular 'Save As...' a JPG, the EXIF stays. If you do a 'Save for Web...' (which includes a resize), it strips it. - TF

Usually there is a little check box/button in the "save as" or "save for web" which gives the option of EXIF stripping yes/no. Even the TIFF export gives data stripping option.

But as OldClicker said, the regular "save" might strip EXIF and also apply some degree of automated file compression.

I have found that very heavy editing often erases the EXIF, and when it is time to save the work the check box is locked.

Thanks guys I think you found my problem.
Recently I have been using Save not SaveAs thinking they were the same from RAW.
I will test this tonight when I get home.

Alex I'll look for the check box as well.

Here's two screenshots taken a few minutes ago in GIMP to give you an idea. :)

I drew a red rectangle around the EXIF-strip yes/no check box.

Re-reading - I never said that I was referring to Elements v6 (I think v7 is the same). Sorry.

    For Elements v6:

There are no save or not-save EXIF boxes.

Since you cannot save any changes as RAW, 'Save' asks for a file type just like 'Save As...' the first time you save the file. Neither has ever stripped the EXIF that I know of.

The 'Save For Web' (also no choice) is the one that strips the EXIF.
