Nikon Capture NX2 - Saving Images?
Hi
I use Nikon Capture NX2 for post processing. Is there an easy way to save all my images to an external hard drive?
Mant thanks,
Peter
Re: Nikon Capture NX2 - Saving Images?
Hmmm not sure what you mean. My rampant-paranoia workflow:
1. Copy the NEF and JPG files from CF card to hard drive
2. Move the JPG files to another folder
3. Rename all the NEF files using ACDSee (I still see each load of files from CF card as being a "film" with a number)
4. Copy the untreated NEF files to another hard drive
5. Edit the NEF files with NX2
6. Convert the treated NEF files to JPG in batch processing
7. Back up the treated NEF and JPG files
8. Move the treated NEF files with ACDSee to an external archive drive
9. Classify the treated JPG files with ACDSee
10. Move the treated JPG files with ACDSee to another external hard drive with my complete picture library
As you can see files are going all over the place. But I don't use NX2 to move them, mostly I use ACDSee which keeps a track of where things are.
If you want to use NX2 to put a single file on an external drive then you can use the Save As option. If you want to copy a whole load of files onto an external drive then you could use Batch processing and save as NEF

Simple. Click "save as" and click under "Computer." All drives attached are visible. Navigate to the external drive and the folder you want and save it there. No different than saving on your internal drive.

My apologies. I missed the ALL my images. There are lots of backup drives available. The HP simplesave backs up every 5 minutes if you leave it plugged in. Western Digital also. Pretty much press a button and go out for the evening.
