    looking for camera filter

    Hello friends,

I have recently purchased a digital camera. But now I am looking to buy camera filter. I am looking for filter which should be specially designed, good quality, should protect my camera from scratch and dust. Do you know any website from where I can purchase camera filter of best quality? If yes, then please let me know.

Filters should only be used when you actually need them. For protection filters, that thin piece of glass is not going to protect a lens from breakage or major damage. Scratches? Use the lens cap that comes free. I've been using cameras without protective filters for over 30 years and have never damaged a lens In any way a filter would have helped. Believe me, these cameras have seen some very rough usage.

If you really want a protective filter, buy the best multi-coated one you can to limit the damage to image quality. Go with a clear or UV from manufacturers such as B+W, Heliopan, Hoya. Also, look into lens hoods.

But please, go out and take photos (and post them here)! Don't let the equipment take over your photography!

    Re: looking for camera filter

I had a protection filter on my 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens when my husband dropped it (attached to a 1d mark III and in a sling bag). Let me just say I wish I had not.
    It's not blurry. It's bokeh.
