Lightroom 3.4 released

Started up Lightroom this evening and it offered to download the latest release update.

It's digesting today's 16G of images as I write...

Terry, you are right - a new version of ACR (6.4) and an update to the DNG converter...You can find them here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/new.jsp.

Anyone know if a new version is coming anytime soon (next 6 months)? What I mean by new version is just that, not a minor update but a new version like when photoshop goes from CS4 to CS5 for example. I don't want to buy and then a couple months later the new major release hits. (that happened to me with CS3 to CS4)

You never know when a new version is coming out, but LR1 came out in early 2009, LR2 came out mid-2008 and LR3 came out mid-2010, so maybe, just maybe, a new version will be out mid-2012, or even earlier as Adobe has started to sell off LR3 at a discount. It appears that Adobe likes to bring out new editions to their software about every 18 to 24 months, and that a beta version is often announced 4 to 6 months in advance...so far, no announcement of LR4 Beta...so stay tuned.

I know this does not help, but my philosophy is not to wait for the next edition/version etc., because often if the new verison comes out soon after I buy the "old" one, there is either a free upgrade, or an upgrade that is minimally priced. The conversion from LR3 to LR4 should be seamless as far as the "database" is concerned. You could, of course, download the current version of Lightroom (version is 3.4.1) and use it for free for 30 days and then shop around to buy it if you decide that is what you are going to do. HTH.

I just bought Lightroom 3.3. It instantly wanted to download 3.4.1. Now all's I have to do is fit it into my workflow.
