    Lightroom 2. Worth it?
What does Lightroom 2 have that the first edition don't have and is it worth the 100 dollar upgrade?

    Greg,

I will refer you to the PR Adobe Lightroom 2.0 Review from last August that I wrote for several of the 'details'. From added cameras with each version (currently 2.5 with a release candidate 2.6 for Nikon D3S cameras) to continued fixes and refinements the Lightroom product is positively evolving.

With Lightroom 3 around the corner (looks like after the first of the year now) being on ver 2 would probably save you another $200 dollars or so as the upgrade path is cheaper with Adobe.

Lightroom 2 added a lot of tools and functionality in the editing process including some brush functionality, gradients for adjustments and new and expanded meta-data implementation.

If there is something specific you want to know or the article does not point you in the right direction for, let me know!!

Canīt be of much help since I never used the previous edition, but Lightroom 2 which I currently use I think is a great simple piece of software. Some features are more straight forward than in Photoshop.
What I tend to do this days is do the "complex" stuff like Masks, painting with light, Etc. with PS and final small tweaks with LR...great combo.

Thanks DRG. I am mostly interested in the gradients, how it works and how well.

Lightroom 2 for me as the fist one that worked.
Lightroom 1 would crash while processing folders of 1000 or more images.

yep, absolutely a worthwhile upgrade. The selective adjustments alone was worth it for me but it is a much better funtioning software on the whole than the LR1.
I'm really looking forward to 3 now for improved RAW conversion and also a much improved printing module.
