Lightroom 2 - is it worth it?
I am currently using Lightroom 1.3 with Adobe CS2 I can honestly say that I love this program - can anyone tell me if it is worth paying the extra money to upgrade to Lightroom 2.

    Thanks

    Absolutely
I'm usually pretty conservative about buying new stuff. Btu in this case, I think it's absolutely worth the money. I can't remember all the enhancements. But the new Gradient Filter and Adjustment Brush tools make it worth the upgrade, in my opinion. They are really powerful RAW tools and have seriously reduced the amount of time I spend doing adjustment layer work in Photoshop. I also found the upgrade and catalog import process to be pretty simple and painless. I recommend upgrading.

I'll know by Christmas, I asked sister-in-law to get it for me as a present :)
I'm torn on the PS CS4 as well, if I upgrade LR to 2.0 and PCS3 to CS4, I get 30% off the LR 1-2 upgrade.

Lightroom 2 is definitely worth it for the added tools, and if you have a 64bit system and/or dual monitors it's even sweeter.

Just bought a quad core Xeon, with second CPU socket to make 8 cores.
So if I can persuade SWMBO that I need a second 28" widescreen monitor I'll be all set then :)

Yes! By all means Lightroom 2.1 is worth the money.

LR 2.1 (which addresses some technical issues with the 2.0 release and is now the current version) is almost a different product from the 1.x versions.

Aside from simple stability, there is far more flexibility in searching, cataloging, and evaluating photographs. The editing tools alone are enough to warrant an upgrade. With the 2.1 release they are far quicker to use on it appears almost any hardware.

Beyond the Library and Develop modules additions and refinements to Web and Printing make this a definite 'must get' upgrade.

I've had the final 2.1 release installed since a few hours after its announcement and had worked with the pre-release candidate for several days prior to that 'official' version. Very seamless upgrade and adds some new cameras for RAW support.

I was also using the same combo you are. LR 1.4 and CS2. As others have said here already, it is sure worth the upgrade.
LR 2.1 is alot of power, flexibility and convenience for the buck. I also upgraded to CS4 a little while later only to have the more seamless integration between the two softwares. . .this I'm not sure yet was worth my money. I'm almost always in LR and rarely come out of it anymore.
    Go for it
