Which is the best book for Lightroom 2
I have just purchased Lightroom 2 and I have literally just opened it up on screen. I can see straight away that I will be better doing some reading before jumping in with both feet. Can anyone recommend a good manual.

    Thanks franciax

    Jump right in !

    It is a non-destructive editor.
You can always undo what you did.
    The original file stays untouched.
Just try things - except for MOVE and DELETE of a file :)

This reminds me, I need to finish the review of the ADOBE manual for Lightroom 2.

I have tarried making sure that release 2.1 wouldn't affect the overall functionality.

The book I'm referring to is "The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book" by Martin Evening.

I'll work on getting it finalized and up this week.

Many of the books on LR that are beginning to appear focus on very fixed and procedural techniques which defeats a lot of the strength of working in LR.

Visit a bookstore and see what appeals to you.

Besides the book above, Rob Shepard has a book that is due out in the next month or two I believe and he has produced some good after market works in the past.

So far, the books from NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Pros) about LR (Ver 1 and on) don't seem to be in the 'spirit' of what a user can do with Lightroom. Too step oriented which is exactly what ADOBE engineers were trying to get away from with the new product.

If I can answer any question please post or pm me. I am doing a lot of work with LR at this time.

Best of luck and in the words of the Fifth Lightroom rule,

    "Enjoy"

    Hi DRG,

Did you post the review? If so could you tell me where it's located?

I had the book in hand yesterday, but because of the price I put it down. I wanted to make sure it was something a simpleton like me could get a lot out of.\

    Thanks!

    JETA,

I am appending some information to the original review and will post and send you (pm) the appropriate link. I think it will pop up when I redo it.

ADOBE has an additional volume out now that includes training videos that they refer to as a 'if you buy only one book' type of work. That's the one I'm now appending to the original write-up.

They are several works out now from a variety of sources some of which are very good 'quick start' works. Most, even the Lightroom Book , are a reflection of how the author uses Lightroom.

"The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book" by Martin Evening has some distinct advantages in that it is written with ADOBE support and still has as complete of information regarding the product as any.

Thank you for your reply. Please do PM me when the review is ready.

I didn't see the one with the videos. That interests me since I'm such a visual learner.
