File Big Enough For Ad Use?

I shot this about 6 months ago. It was actually shot outdoors but with about 8 hours of pen tool and stacked layers its now on black. the problem is the editor at a motorcycle magazine is telling the guy it needs to be 300 DPI and on a white or black background. He sent him the original that sat in the grass. Oh and I really doubt it would be an 8 by 10 ad anyway.

Here is the deal I shot this with my 1D Mark IIn at 240 DPI in Raw and converted it. So I can make it 300 for him and make it smaller. But does it really matter for an 8 by 10 print? I will loose the drop shadows on the bottom BTW....

If it's for a magazine ad, 300 ppi is generally what's considered acceptable but magazine pages are rarely 10" wide. If you think they're dead set on 10" wide, just add a 2" black border around the blacK background, the bike is a little tight in the frame anyway, then they can crop it back off if they need to, or not...

Absolutely fantastic PP work BTW

Yeah I think the 240 DPI which is easy to change will be plenty! I am going to send him a 1200 by whatever sample in the next day or so. Then see what the editor says. Seems weird that the editor is telling him how his ad should look! He mentioned getting a studio to shoot it indoors. This was the same place I cut it out from..... but with different plate on the head.

Thanks BTW it took a while!
