Question for Washington State photographers

I am headed to Washington State for some photo projects in July. What I am wanting to know is, wheres some good places for doing portraits outdoors? I was told about a Japanese garden as one...
I will be in the Kent area for the wk end and would love some suggestions.:)

What kind of surroundings are you looking for?

Maybe a mixture of rustic woodys scenery (kinda had not to get that up there! )
and then some waterfalls,maybe something flowery??
We have a park here that gives some beaufitful colors year round since they plant nice colors in the Park. It has a mixture of everything from rock,waterm,trees and flowers.
Ill be shooting at least 5 families photos, so a variety of backgrounds would be nice.
Heck, if I wrap up a good day, I may have to drive over and hit the beach for some sunset shots!! :)
I used to live in Seattle many years ago, Im just not familiar whats out of the area abit.
Not having to drive far is always nice ,more time for me to do some touring and shoot some shots for myself!
Frog, anything closer to Kent,Olympia or Auburn area that you know of ?

Sorry..only drive through those areas and as seldom as possible. Not sure why you included Olympia in that list as its a good 45min to an hour south.
There is Flaming Geyser park outside of Auburn. Haven't been there in a long time but its along a river and lots of woods/forest. http://www.parks.wa.gov/parkpage.asp...Flaming+Geyser Also several access places to the Green River on the way there with good farm scenery.
Pt. Defiance does have some spectacular flower gardens but not sure what's growing there in July. They also have a small Japanese garden with a lovely little bridge in it.
Also a zoo. Its just the place I'm most familiar with.
Perhaps the families have ideas?

One of my favorite portrait photogs uses Kopachuck State Park a lot. It's probably a bit too far for you? Not sure how far you want to travel.

Tina, If you get a chance go up to Kerry Park on Queen Anne hill just north of Seattle Center. There is some outstanding views from there with the Seattle skyline as a great back round!
