    Please Read Announcement

Life has taken a lot of twists and turns for me in the last few months and I have less and less time and way less brain power to focus on the project forum.
I put an announcement to that effect in the moderators forum last month but have heard nothing from the powers that be.

I will not be able to continue to moderate this forum effectively.

If you have any interest in moderating the project forum please let PJ or Paul know.
I will be available to help for a while.

Moderators duties: Announce project for the month, pick a featured photo,(must be by someone that hasn't had a featured for a year and not a moderator), delete spam,(seldom get any in project forum), and move misplaced posts. Also can make posts a sticky or unstick and general housekeeping.
    Keep Shooting!

Alison was the moderator before I was so don't think she'd want to take it on again.

Cara is a good candidate...lets see if she sees this.

    Re: Please Read Announcement

It's not easy moderating on your own due to the fact that if you go away it's very difficult unless you have someone to take over.
I don't mind being moderator again if I have help from Cara.
John left me alone to take care of the forum which is why I gave it up. I wasn't getting any help. Being left to do it alone is not easy when you have other commitments.
So...If Cara would like to moderate, I will be moderator with her

    Re: Please Read Announcement

I think that is part of my problem...doing it alone.
In the moderators forum, I did say I would stay on to help out.
Three of us might do a bang up job if we don't confuse each other.
Didache,(Mike), is/was a moderator but no one has seen him for a long time.
Had a heart attack, was recovering, but now unknown.

Cara, yes it can become difficult if you're doing it by yourself. Picking a theme and then - horror of horrors- picking a featured photo and getting in on time to get posted...I always seem to mess that one up.
Maybe we could even find a chat site or get on an instant message service to discuss stuff. Haven't been on instant messenger in a long time but think I still have it available.

    Think about it.

I'll second the vote for Cara, I think she'd do well at it.

Thank you very much Frog for being a great moderator here. I totally understand people getting busy and not being able to continue with the moderator position. I always have more work than I can handle busy so I can't help but be sympathetic.

I have been thinking that I might make the commitment to give this forum more attention for a while. I think with a bit of work I might be able to figure out some ways to improve it and bring more participants in. It's one of the earliest real community-created sections of the site. If I remember right it started with people sharing Holiday photos in 2000 and then got formalized into the regular "Project" we know now. Anyway, I'd like to get more involved and see what we might be able to do to strengthen and polish it a bit.

    Thanks again, Frog!

Sounds like a good plan, John. I love this forum - but I agree that I think some enhancement would make it more inviting. I look forward to seeing some more of your creative talents.

    Re: Please Read Announcement

I read about this in the moderators forum much earlier, but somehow missed it here, so I would just like to add my comments...

I also think Frog did an excellent job moderating the Project forum! He will be missed for his good work. Another thing I will miss about Frog not being able to be active here on the forums is his GREAT participation in the Critique forum. I always liked looking at the pictures that were posted to come up with comments that I could leave for the poster of the photo but before I posted I would always make sure and read Frog's reply first to see what I had missed. Over the years I have learned a lot by reading the comments about the photos and Frog was someone that pointed out many things that I had missed and I would like to thank him for all he has taught me over the years.  Jeff

Hope circumstances improve and you will be able to be active again soon!!
