I don't have a problem with that, as long as it is a ture portrait. After all, this is not a wildlife project.

How would one define portrait? I mean like for example, would the second photo be a portrait?

I just googled definition of a portrait here's what one link read...
A portrait is a painting, photograph, or other artistic representation of a person. Portraits are often simple head shots or mug shots and are not usually overly elaborate or creative. The intent is to show the basic appearance of the person, and occasionally some artistic insight into his or her personality.
However, I have seen some beautfiul pet portraits.

I am ok with pet portraits. I just don't want a bunch of wildlife stuff.

Great Topic Almo! Glad you're back.....

This one is my daughter. I have been playing with film and wanted to go back in time to try out different films rated at different ISO's. This was Ilford 125 pushed 2 stops. Scans not that great sorry

Alison, I think "Fond Memories" is a great photo. The compostion is interesting and tells a story. Nice!
