    Re: May Photo Project: Portraits

Oh wow! I'm loving this. Fantastic portraits everyone!

I just had to include this one of my 6 year old daughter under the willow trees. Her smile is just priceless.

I added a slight soft focus to it in PSP.

I don't have many portraits in my portfolio - I mostly take pics of things and places.

But this is a pretty good pic of my neice (yes, that's ba-sketti sauce on her chin):

Sebastian I love the lighting and colours in that shot The soft shadows are wonderful! It would be nice to know how you acheived it. It's beautiful!

Here's another of my 6 year old daughter.
I was practising using my settings on my flash and all Danielle wanted to do was go to bed, bless her.
    I think I used a 1/4 here.
    50mm 1.8 lens. Manual Mode. F/3.20. SS 1/100. ISO 100. Bounced Flash.

I chose "Freckles" as the title

Thanks Alison. Nothing special, just a softbox above her on a boom.

    Nice portraits everybody!!

I'll add a few over the week. This first one just had a backdrop that just called for a shot.

    Cheers,

    Alex,

Nothing screams futuristic commando like country scene crocheting hung on a wall.

    Frying tonight ?
Don't ask me why the cat decided to 'help' with dinner !

Please be assured that NO animal was hurt in the taking of this image - it was ALL his idea ! - there was NO oil in the frying pan and the cooker ring was NOT tuned on !

It did put a stop to cooking tea though - while I set the camera up

;) Canon 350D with 28-55mm lens AND 55-80mm Ultrasonic lens Speedlite flash ;)

Took this shot of my baby girl Trinity, today, while my 17 year old daughter Gina, was playing with her.
Just at the point she looked at me I pressed the shutter. Talk about great timing.

The image of Trinity in her cot was one of my first attempts with my new lens and bouncing a flash, Title: "Caged"

    It's her birthday today...Happy 1st Birthday Trinity!!!

    Alison-

Thank you for posting such beautiful portraits of children. The lighting is always perfect and you've mastered the art of cropping and zooming into your subject to create a mood of innocence.
(Aren't you lucky to have a house full of natural, beautiful models waiting for you to release the shutter.)

I just posted this one on viewfinder. It was my first real portraits, and I took it on Saturday afternoon after a commencement ceremony at my alma mater.
