    March Photo Project: Your Town

I am a few days late on this. I don't where my head was, but better late than never I always say!

I have taken the ideas of a few people that have posted to the "Photo Project Suggestions" thread and put them togther to come up with this months topic:

    YOUR TOWN

I want to see where you live. What things make your town unique? What places hold special meaning to you? Does your town have something we would all recognize? Whatever "Your Town" means to you, post it here!

Well, I am going to just jump right in here.

This is an older image. I will be getting out for some new stuff soon though.

My Town Is Jacksonville Florida. It is a beautiful city which I love very much. It has a lot going for it, and hopfully I will be able to show some of that through my photos.

Downtown Jacksonville. This is looking at the North bank of the St. Johns River from the South bank.

I'll have to go cruising around this week to grab some nice shots. But let's kick it off here with Milton, ON! A small growing community.

I am not much of an architectural photographer, but I was there and I thought it was interesting. This is the Cummer Gallery of Art near downtown Jacksonville, Fl. Its a wonderful museum with pieces ranging from Picaso to Herb Ritz. It also has a beautiful English garden looking out over the St. Johns River and the downtown skyline.

I finally had some decent (temperature wise) weather yesterday. This is the Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital---a city landmark for years. The tower is what makes this a distinctive part of the landscape.

I was in a cowboy bar in Ogden about 10 years ago. I think it was called the Tamarac Saloon. Boy did I feel out of place. You know that scene in the movies where someone walks into a bar and everyone, including the band, stops and looks a them. That's what I felt like. I guess I needed a cowboy hat and a 10" belt buckle. I still had a good time tho and thats the important part.

Golden, Colorado. Early morning in December. OK, so it's not my town right now. But it certainly is more my town than where I am living now!

Here's this morning's sunrise over the malthouse just north of town (Jefferson, Wisconsin). Built and operated for many years by the Ladish Malting Company, it supplied the Milwaukee breweries with much of their malted barley. It was recently purchased and then closed down by the Cargill Co. putting people out of work. Now some people want to buy it and produce ethanol and aquaculture fish there.

I guess these may fit, although it isn't a shot of a city. However, this is what my city is known for and the purpose of our biggest fetival of the year. We are the "cherry blossom capitol of the world". EDIT: odd, all the pics aren't showing up.. owell.
