Just to confirm, it DOES NOT have to be a portrait. It can be anything window light related

Nope not all the time. 9 times out of 10 I use window light only. If I use a reflector I usually say so.

I would give some more examples but most of my window light shots are portraits.
I better get taking some new ones of different things.

Ok. So it's kind of a portrait I guess (sorry). Here's my son on a train ride :D
And a shot of the toothbrushes on my bathroom window sill.

I didn't mean it that you use reflectors all the time ... sorry if it sounded that way ...

It's ok Ben don't worry. I had a go with my gold reflector yesterday although it was totally outdoors so I can't post it in here :(

Here's one of my favorite subjects Ollie. Can be found most days on the back of the couch looking out the window. He was nice enough to let me takes some pics of him again today. Here's one I liked a lot because of the reflection in on his eye.

The light is actually from the late afternoon sun coming through the window to the other side of the room. The 2nd one is a crop.

My god-child on her first holy communion day. She was sitting in the car waiting to go to the church. I took it from outside - and cloned out the door handle.

    Paul,

That last one - the portrait - looks good to me.

    Not quite there, but almost.
His nose is lost in the cheek highlight.
I should have sat a couple of chairs to the right.
Shooting from the shadow side the contrast was too high, and I had to work very hard in Lightroom to recover the shadow detail. It's on the edge of usability because of the line pattern noise that is perhaps hidden at this resolution.

Can you tell I cheated in the first one?

I really like that last photo - the room with the windows. I love the reflection on the right - and the door. Very nice.

About the first portrait and your question

Can you tell I cheated in the first one?

    No......because I don't quite "get it"
