    cs shadow and highlight controls

    I am unable to get the highlight and shadow controls to work in adobe cs. Any suggestions?

    What file are you using, is it a tiff file, jpeg file or what and what mode is it in, 8 bit or 16 bit. CS won't let you use some of the modes when the file is in 16 bit mode.

    a raw file (nef) in 16 and in 8 bit

    When you open the file up, and then try and use the shadow and hightlight controls are the controls greyed out.

    Could the file be write protected by any chance.

    I don't use nef files unfortunately being and Canon user so can't advise anymore than that.

    Maybe converting the file to tiff might help though.
