    Recovering lost work (Photoshop crashing)
I have been working for one hour on a piece while Photoshop crashed for no apparent reason (first time ever, I am using Photoshop Element 2 on an Apple G4).

My work appears to have vanished somewhere. Is there anyway to recover it? The computer itself didn't crashed at all and I haven't turned it off ever since.

Any imput would be trrrruuuuulllly appreciated!!!

If Photoshop crashed then any unsaved changes are most likely toast. Before you start photoshop up again, maybe try Adobe tech support forums to see if they can do something for you. But I imagine if you've already started photoshop since the crash then restoring from photoshop swap isn't going to happen.

I know it sucks, but It's only and hour.

    Thanks Trevor,

Actually, it appears that Photoshop reset itself (everything is back to default). It is the very first time that it happens since I started to use it 10 months ago. Anyway, it is not such a big deal, I am trying new things so this crash is an opportunity to practice some more!

    That still doesn't explain...
...what happened to the file.

I mean, even if the program crashed, the last saved version of the file should still exist. Unless, of course, you didn't save the file even once during the hour you were working on it.

Oh my, I can't even begin to imagine THAT...

I figure I save my ps work about once every twenty seconds or so. With me, every other keystroke is CTL-S! :D

Well Steve, I am not proud to say this but I haven't saved one single time... Oh well, I'll learn...

This plugin lets you grab image layers from any PSD/PSB file. It's faster than opening the whole PSD in Photoshop, if you just want a layer. Most importantly, it can usually recover image layers from corrupted PSD files that Photoshop won't open (if Photoshop opens with damage, this plugin recovers a more intact image). Beta version.
