ps 6.0 tool problem-

hello everyone-
in my ps 6.0 tool chest , from the foreground/background icon and down to the very bottom of the tool chest, the area surrounding "each" tool icon box is a pastel green. previously it had always been white. i have reset all the tools to "default", but the green remains.
question-
1- what do i need to do to go from the present green back to white color surrounding each tool icon box?
2- does this present green have any effect on color and/or grayscale scans when "optimizing" them in ps? if so, what?

I'm sorry we haven't been able to help you earlier. I think I understand what you're describing but I'm not entirely sure. Can you post a screenshot of the area affected? It's as simple as loading photoshop and pressing the print screen button then making a new file and pasting into it. Just crop to the area showing the problem.
