Printing Rebel XT pictures; photolab DPI

I've had the Canon Rebel XT for a month or so now and would like to print some of the pictures I took. There isn't anything I need to do for 4x6 cropping wise since the XT image size is a 3-2 ratio already, but what about DPI? I have read discussions on PPI & DPI relating to printing. Is this for injket printers only? The JPG's that come out of th XT are 72 DPI. Do I have to change that for lab printing?
    Thanks,
    Mike

If you take the files to a consumer printer (Walgreens, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, etc.) they will print the file correctly. The image DPI doesn't really mean much in this case. If you look at the print size listed, it will be massive at 72 dpi!
