Hot Pixel (or not?)

I recently got a little point and shoot to carry along with my digital SLR
it is a Canon SD870IS
I have used Irfanview to quickly examine shots on my computer in the past with no particular issues.
However- every picture I take with this camera shows a hot pixel in the same spot.
The odd thing is, that no other software shows a hot pixel
Windows viewer
Picasa
Nikon photo software
Canon Photo software
Photoshop

none show a hot pixel-- only Irfanview
but Irfanview sees it on two different computers

so-- do I have a hot pixel or not?
anybody ever see this?

That is weird. To further test, I would check and image from another camera to see if Irfanview still shows a hot pixel. If it does, then it's a software glitch. If it doesn't then you have a hot pixel that only Irfanview can see

If you're worried about a hot pixel - don't. It's not a big deal. Usually they end up being invisible in photos. And if they do show up in the sky or something, it's easy enough to clone them out.
