    Need help picking a notebook
I would like to purchase a laptop to use exclusively for my photography. I don't know much about them but I do have a few things that I know I want. Here is a list of must haves and I'm hoping one of you can point me in the right direction.

Price in the $1500-2000 range. The cheaper the better.
Must be able to handle Photoshop CS
Would like at least 40gb hardrive
Fast processor to handle large file is shooting RAW.
    Would like a large monitor.
    DVD burner is a must

Is it possible to get all this at a reasonable price? What else would you recomend?

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

I am currently working on an Acer model 1712. It is a 3 gig processor, full gig of ram, 120 gig hard drive, multicard reader, built in Nic, wireless 802.11g and a DVD-R burner. The graphics card is a 128 meg Geforce 5700 go. In July I paid 2195 for it with Windows XP pro loaded. It also has firewire built in. The trade off is battery life and weight, this bad boy is heavy, but I knew that going in. I lug it around in a Targus XL case with built in wheels and handle. I use it for editing video with Avid Xpress Pro and will be upgrading the Photoshop to CS shortly. PM me if you are interested and I will contact my dealer for you. I do computer consulting on the side and can occasionaly get some really good deals. If you like the price, you can deal directly with my supplier and pay them direct, getting my dealer pricing.

Ohhhh, this one is fabulous! You must see the display on this one! BEEEEUUUUTTEEEFUL! Go to bestbuy and check it out! I actually have had great luck with best buy. I have become a firm hater of dell since they outsourced their support desk to india. exporting our jobs! (I used to be a pc support specialist) Actually, I have a dell notebook and hate it. I'd throw it in the garbage if it didn't cost so much. I like best buys service plans too - had great luck with that on several occasions.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Michael and Janie. It's a little premature for me to be making this kind of purchase but something I hope to do in the future. I like doing my research ahead of time and figuring out what I want and don't want... Thanks again for the info!!!
