    Need Book Suggestion for PhotoShop
I am considering getting PhotoShop 7 and PageMaker 7. I want to get one of those "help" books. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks and I'm glad I found you all!

Welcome. A good starting point for Photoshop Books is Scott Kelby's book series that he had developed. Also Adboe Photoshop Classroom in a Book is handy, but the built in help file should be pretty helpful as well.

Here are a couple that I like
Adobe Photoshop for Photographers, by Martin Evening (I have the version 6.0 edition): Good general reference and theory behind digital photography in the context of Photoshop.

Photoshop Restoration and Retouching, by Katrin Eismann. This is an outstanding book filled with useful techniques and expamples for dealing with specific post-shot photographic challenges.

Sorry, no book advice from on PageMaker.

    Happy hunting!

    Good book suggestions

You might also consider a video course.
I did the VTC's Photoshop 6 course years ago and I considered it worth every penny!
Most important aspects of Photoshop were discussed and the teacher Andrew J. Hathaway presented it in a very professional way.

    $99.95 for the PS 7 course: http://www.vtc.com/products/photoshop-7.htm

The page includes several sample videos.

More expensive than a book, but you learn more in a shorter time and for me the course was a lot of fun to watch too.

Follow it up with books like Photoshop Wow! (bestseller, focuses on a lot of different things), Photoshop Restoration & Retouching, Photoshop Bible (best reference book you can find), etc.

I also consider Photoshop Artistry one of the better books for photographers, but not suited for beginners.

Your local library should have a great selection.
