    Memory card slot on laptop

Just discovered that my HP laptop pc has a memory card slot for an SD card. Would this card be the same type used in cameras, etc.? Recently saw that there are 8gb SD cards available for about $25. They are high capacity cards, would they work for additional storage
and be accessible like a flash drive or an external HDD. Also what is this level 6 memory in the description of the card.

Yes, Yes, and the 6 refers to the speed of the card. 6 is a fast card. Your camera if you have one may or may not work with an 8 gig card. You need to check the manual of the camera if you plan to use it in a camera to see if it will work in it, Jeff
