digital photo resolution for television viewing

a newbe here and I need to create a slide show on dvd for my little white haired mom--I will be scanning many slides and need to know what resolution will work best for television viewing----any parameters and advice is appreciated.

I'm actually doing the exact same thing as you right now :) I just got done copying all the slides & now I'm in the process of picking out the ones for the slideshow, since I'm not going to show all 19 carosels (sp?) of them.

Since I'm going to burn the show as a DVD, I'm loading them into the program at full size Jpegs (images are from my D70 which is 6MP). Then I'm going to let the program (Ulead DVD Moviefactory 5) resize them for TV viewing, which I believe is 720x640 (I could be wrong)

Which program are you going to use to create it?
