    Drive-by shooting

While toodling around the back desert roads I found this old abandoned car and thought the colors were interesting. Would like to hear your thoughts/crits... what could make it a better picture.

    Thanks much,
    Chuck

I agree, a very nice shot (all pun intended) I bet this may look really nice as a b&w as well. I love old, abandoned cars like this...so much character in them...I bet they could tell some great stories if they could talk.

I think this makes a really good subject, and I love the colours. I'd also like to see a b&w comparison. Is it me, or is the horizon bending down a little oddly on that left hand side?

Thanks a buch for the responses.
Here's the black and white. I was at odds as to use the green or the red filter. I settled for the green but it sacrificed the definition in the clouds.

    Thanks much, Chuck

    Re: Drive-by shooting

I definetely prefere the color rendition but was glad you posted a b&w sample. What did you do to get the vignette in the sky like that? Was it a polarizer or done afterwards on the computer? It looks like polarizer effect to me. Was it intentional? I'm asking all these questions simply because I think that effect is really making this image work for me. It's keeping focus right where it needs to be.

Whether done on purpose or not, this is a very enjoyable photo.

    Re: Drive-by shooting

Thank you! I'm always struggling to get more into the photo and more depth. After rummaging around this forum a bit I came across Mahesh's pano shots. I can't wait to give it a shot and see what I can come up with... just don't know how motivated I am to drag my butt out there at the crack of dawn.

The vignetting effect is a circular polarizer AND a graduated neutral density filter. I like my skies dark.

    Re: Drive-by shooting

I think a shot looking through the bullet holes would be quite neat if possible. I don't liek the black and white that much, but I would rather saturate the colors, especially on the vehicle. Make it pop out.

Nice shot and a great subject,

    Jared
