Providence canyon

Got more (and hopefully better) on some Fuji Superia and Kodak UC400. Any thoughts on this? It was a quick take, basically to keep it on my mind, as I want to return and spend a whole day there. Today I only had time to walk about 1/2 mile of the seven mile hike to the bottom.

Guess what I am looking for are some ideas for a real shoot of this location, as I have not worked on landscape much.

Looks really nice payn.

The sky is a bit over blown and the branches on the right are kinda distracting but other than that it's gorgeous. This place has serious potential. I'm looking forward to seeing more from here and the bottom. Looks like the white limestone rocks on the right can make great subjects too (if indeed that's what they are). Good luck.

Georgia has canyons?!?! I never knew. And really cool looking rock formations at that. Can't wait to see what you get after a serious hike. Definitely get up close to those spires. The picture you have posted looks interesting enough but seems to have a blueish cast which you could probably filter out and the clutter of trees is less than ideal but hey that's nature for ya. Looks like a great place to go camping and do "painted light" night shots in as well. Good luck! Show us more.

I didn't know Georgia had canyons either. It was an accidental find. while just going on a cruise, I saw a sign that said providence canyon, so followed the arrows. It is only about 200 feet or so deep at it's deepest, but being my first canyon ever, it was breathtaking!

I guess I'll have to take a tripod and do some multiple exposures, and some digital blending to get the exposure right though, so that will be another first. As soon as I get the film back, that question will be answered, as my film cameras usually handle exposure issues better than my digital.

I agree with the sky but very nice image. Georgia had some of the most awesome "canyons" and parks I'd ever seen. Even Columbus had this wonderful park called Flat Rock with awesome rocks and a great little river with rocks that kids would use as a slide. You have a great state to explore!

I am certainly no landscape photographer and my experience in this are is very limited but I will offer my input anyway. The things that I like about the photo are the rock walls of the canyon. What I find that could be better is that the color looks a bit odd to me (maybe it is my monitor). The sky appears to be a bit blown out and there is some messy vegetation in the picture, mainly on the bottom right corner but the leafless tree on the left side on the horizon isn’t all the appealing to me either. I would certainly wait for better lighting for a photo of this place and probably spend some time shooting from inside of the canyon.
