Winter Sunrise
What do you think of this? Would it be better without the motion in the clouds? Any other comments or suggestions are welcome.

Re: Winter Sunrise
I like the clouds fine. The motion is ok with me. Maybe boost the shadows slightly. Nice shot.

Re: Winter Sunrise
Better with the motion of the clouds. Great colours and I won't bother posting up my nitpicks as it's simply not worth it!
Great photo!

Re: Winter Sunrise
Mike - Not sure... in some ways it's overbearing to me, like the sunset is in your face... The little hut in the bottom right area is pretty neat but it seems too contrasty (as does the sky), and the little star effect there turns it into more of a creation than a pure photo (not sure if that's what you wanted ?). I agree that you need a bit more detail in the shadows. Also not sure how the image is split in two like it is.
Sorry to be the skeptic, but .. I guess someone has to do it :D

Re: Winter Sunrise
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I did create another version of this image and opened up the FG a bit more. If I remember, I will post it when I get home.
GB, thanks for your input. This image was created with a single exposure, and then I processed the raw file to bring out more detail in the FG. The FG was much darker in the original, and by adding some exposure to the RAW file, I was able to bring out some more detail in the building. The sunrise is pretty much as it was captured. The "stars" are a little more pronounced do the added exposure in post, and the sharpening I applied to the image.

Here is the version where I opened up the FG a bit more.

Re: Winter Sunrise
I like this better than the first. The hint of foreground gives it that "early morning" feel and the blue of the snow on the ground provides nice counterbalance to the red of the cloud bottoms. Very nice!

Re: Winter Sunrise
The second image is a marked improvement. The misty fog adds to the mood of this frosty winter morning. Nice work.

Re: Winter Sunrise
Mike - I also find it more interesting with the detail in the dark area. Seeing that road adds a lot. Can you lighten it up even more?

Re: Winter Sunrise
Thanks for the feedback Rick and G. Here is an even lighter version. This is a quick edit from the from the low res image as I don't have access to the original file here at work.

Re: Winter Sunrise
I have to say the last version of this image is the very best. The rest are great but I really like how it shows more of the image.

Re: Winter Sunrise
I love the latest, has interest and the colours are excellent.
As far as composition is concerned it needs a bit more space at the bottom of the cabin.
