    Welcome dl4449,

To the critique forums and your new camera. I'm sure you're going to have lots of fun taking pictures. Here are a few things I see off the bat. Turn off the on camera flash. You've got a great big shadow from the closest leaf that has really darkened the main part of your picture. You may want to play with the focus settings as well, your auto focus has selected the leaf at the back of the scene as the subject in best focus, which has made your pumpkin blossom "soft". Coming in closer to your subject will help your auto focus determine what the subject of focus is.
    Hope that helps!

    Regards,

Welcome, dl4449. I like the light on your first much better. The shadow on the top of the flower is a prolem but I'm not sure what C.L. means as it appears to me that the flower is in focus more than any other parts.
In the second one I do think the leaves are the focal point and the flower loses out.
If you don't use flash, you'll have to use a tripod for a longer exposure, I think.
