    Who left the water running?

The falls are running higher than I've ever seen in over 30 years .... Shoshone Falls, Twin Falls, Idaho..

This was in the middle of a snow/rain storm, with everything fogged in - standing on a slippery rock, wet and freezing...... lost my cap... Didn't lose anything else, thank God...

    What do you think?

Great catch. It looks as if a white gradient was added across half of the image. I think the foreground and water look good as they are, but I'm also a sucker for longer exposures when moving water is involved.

Re: Who left the water running?

Wonderful. Great blend of mist/fog to sharp foreground. Soft and moody throughout.

I get the feeling that cropping this from the right into a square format would be ideal here. That bit of tree on the right cut off by the frame bothers me a bit, but really not an issue.

    great shot.

Absolutely fantastic ! Really marvelous sight

Perhaps the rocks are a bit over sharpen ? or what are those white spots on them ?

    Thanks for sharing this image

How about this for a crop ..... 20x20 square..

BTW, I did very little sharpening - the rocks are a Granite and have those white spots in them naturally..

Awesome photo. I still feel like there's a little too much negative space in both version but it doesn't detract from it that much. I do like the warm color scheme though

I like the photo but think you need to adjust the shadows and highlights to bring out some of the detail of the rocks in the fog to eliminate having so much white area. I tried making a slight adjustment and also left it as a landscape crop instead of the square crop and eliminated some of the dead space in the top and bottom. If you are interested in seeing what it looks like let me know and I will post it so you can take a look, Jeff

Beautiful. Processing is evident but not overdone. I wouldn't do anything further to add more detail.

The negative space actually draws me in.

    Prefer the square crop.

Re: Who left the water running?

Eh, I think I agree with Granpdpaw. While the image is a good start, I think the extreme whiteness all bunched up as it is does not really help the composition much, and, to be more blunt hurts it to my eye.

It is a shame, because the falls emerging from the mist really is quite nice. My instinct, without changing the shot at all, would be to at least ground it with a dark mat.

I would have one suggestion on this very nice image. You may be up to it, or not. You can try it and see what you think. Try mirroring the image - basically flipping it, so that dark rocks are in the bottom left rather than in the bottom right. For a westerner's eye, this is more pleasing because we tend to look from left to right ...and exploring the rocks first and the waterfall 2nd makes it fun for me. Just a thought.

Nice composition of the falls and I just love the dreamy water effect but its a little harsh on the eyes. If you had a little less mist it would of had a much bigger impact.
