    Re: Bask in the Glory

I like this. I like your framing and the persons laying/basking in the glory here lol

My only hang up, or criticism on this is it appears too dark and contrasty. . .murky sorta.
The processing is haevy handed for my taste, but otherwise i like everything about this.

I'm with Gary on the foreground darkness Liban. Since you've already tweaked the S/H - tweak them a little more to give us the rest of the scene. Love the view BTW!

    Re: Bask in the Glory

Gary, I agree with you. This was almost a silhouette. because the sun is behind the tower. I had to bring out the shadows a lot. Also, I shot this JPEg and I think the colour balance was off. it looked very sunsety even if the sun was up there in the sky. Don't really know why. But I agree. Maybe this is screeming B&W? that way I wont' have to worry about the muddieness. I'll post a B&W version below. Thanks!

Cindy, first of all, welcome back! Thank you. I've revised the photo.

    nice !
I think the murky color version is a good candidate for the vmlopes© light rays post processing

the B&W is nicer, more down to earth "snapshot" (i now duck behind my desk)

I really like this shot, very cool exposure. But I find the HDR to be excessive, I'd like to see that toned down a bit.

The HDR actually looks a little more natural in the BW.

I like both, but think I prefer the color. While I do see what Anbesol is saying, I think that the subjects get lost in the b/w.

I really like the way the structure pops in the color version.

My only thought would be to try a version with the HDR strength reduced just a hair. I do like it as is, though.

Armando, how dare you! J/k. I know what you mean. thanks!

Anbesol, yeah I see that. It was a really dark silhouette since the sun was directly behind the tower and I had to process it hard like this. I pulled back in the b&w, I think most of you here want less of the HDR. thank you!

Seth, I'll definitely pull back on the final version of this. thanks!

    Re: Bask in the Glory

Liban, the color version for me works best here with the high contrast because there is better separation.

However, I tried bringing out the shadows significantly and there is lots to be had, and, I think it works best in b&w after doing that. Just seems to really work well with the subject matter and the comp.
