    Re: west cell blocks

I love the first image. So much repitition and the eye just gets carried off into the distance then back again. Personally, I would have cropped out the very bottom where the black gate is since it acts like a brake and disrupts my eye flow. But I really think it's a cool image.

The second is neat, but my eye keeps trying to focus on the brown pipe further back. When it can't I feel like my contacts are not working or something. It may have worked for me if the brown pipe wasn't there. But the texture is very cool.

I was a little iffy on the second picture, but I decided to post it anyway because I liked that texture on the bar. It probably would have also worked better if I hadn't used a wide-angle lens; I don't really like the distortion.

I went ahead and cropped the first one a bit, and I really like the results.

Jails are always freaky. I remember Alcatraz island and that was freaky.

What's the status of the place. Is it a tourist attraction now?

    Nice work.

I liked the cropped one best. It works well. I like the concept in the second but it doesn't look like a prison...

The 1st one works better for me. The 2nd one kinda makes my eyes sore, so I just look away. I just can't seem to focus on it. Prisons are depressing but very photogenic.

I prefer the crop. That's actually the first thing that went through my mind and you cropped it perfectly...great job.

The second shot is interesting. I like the texture, and interesting color. Did you use a fisheye? I quite enjoy the distortion, but it still feels the shot is missing something. Great shot though, nice eye.

    Nice work.
The prison was last in use in 1990 and it was still owned by the state when Shawshank Redemption was filmed. Shortly after that, a preservation society took over the prison. A short part of Air Force One was filmed there, and with the profit, the preservation society put on a new roof. Since then summer tours and ghost hunt tours are held there. The preservation society is still putting work into it and they are continuing to restore it.
