Shot with a Minolta SR T 101 w/ 70-210 zoom Lens on Kodak b&w 200 Speed...

Looks pixellized to me... Having problems with sizing.... guess thats the problem? That and its a scanned image from a matte 4x6 print... the original is very clear, let me know what you think.

(embarrassed) all i have to use is a kodak easyshare software, i scanned it ( matte print on dell scanner) and put it on cdr orig size : 1184x1756 pixels/ 213 KB, opened in easyshare (barf) and then you can choose to resize by percentage, choices are: 100%, 75, 50, 25 so.....
75% puts it at 888x1317
50 %=444x659
25 % puts it at 12 kb / 111 x 165

so, i ended up saving it to paint and thats the only way to do it that i've found ( go to attributes and change image size) But i think paint makes it look pixellized and i saved it as a jpeg.....

any suggestions, at least until i can buy Adobe PS?

There is a freeware program called irfanview that does a good job with photos as far as resizing and such. It lets you resize to specific pixel sizes.
You may be introducing problems when saving the files as jpeg as well. Using too high a compression factor introduces jpeg artifacts like these that you can see in an enlarged section of your photo in your other thread.

The usual workpath I use for photos I upload here is
crop if needed
adjust levels/curves/color if needed (brightness/contrast/color if using less able program)
resize
unsharp mask {needed to sharpen from the softness resizing causes} (sharpen if unsharp mask not available)
save as jpeg using as little compression as possible to achieve file size for posting

okay, will look into it! Check out my Aloha Tower post, see what you think, I was able to resize w/ out using paint this time ( as i did with the tiger "Roar" ) and I think it looks alot better, but it was also scanned from a glossy print, i'm noticing that the matte prints scanned funny.......
Also, Paint lets you resize by pixels, cm or inches...... but i don't know how to choose what size to resize them to...... as far as keeping it in relation to the #'s that it is displaying already.... I guess I could play with it (sure my boss won't mind for example, If it says an image is 441 x 668 pixels, i could just go in and minus 100 to each? ending up with 341 x 568? i know that in order to post it has to be max 640 x 640

no. you need to keep the ratio of length-to-width the same. the original size has a ratio of 668/441 or 1.51 but if you subtract 100 from each you get a ratio of 568/341 or 1.66. the ratio MUST stay the same else you will get distortion of your image.

I had already messed with this in paint....then i saw your post...

this is what I got. Does it just depend on the image (whether or not it comes out distorted) I think this one is an impovement, but the first was pretty bad ! So, that doesn't say much, I guess...

A lot of programs have a "Maintain aspect ratio" (or similar) checkbox. They will also change the width to the correct value if you enter a new height. The tower post looke good but maybe a little soft. Things are looking up.

I'm a huge dork, i didn't make it clear that i did not change the pixel size on the above (clearer) photo.
in paint, whenever i would change the # of pixels, it would just take a chunk out of the right side...
so i ended up going to "Image" then "stretch/skew" and just put in 80% for horizontal and vertical! And the above is what i got..
