Waterfall and flower in the fall

It's been a while since I posted here, due to school and everything taking time away from photo work. Here's some of my newest stuff. Let me know what you think.

Re: Waterfall and flower in the fall

Dave - first thing I thought when I scrolled down to the pink flowers was, Wow. The colors is great. I might have lightened them up a tad. The only thing that bothers me about the image is that there's no central point of interest, as all the flowers look the same and I find myself scanning around for something that stands out (nothing really does here, I dont believe).

The second shot is OK but I wish the tips of the flower were sharper. The falls, where was it? Seems you have gotten it well. I like the yellow on the right side, wish there was something on the left also (seems a tad dark). Where's a deer when you need one.

Re: Waterfall and flower in the fall

The second one just has too much green. The first one just is what it is, a lot of flowers.... The waterfall doesnt have anything good to the left of it, just a tree that is too tall for the pic (you would only see the trunk). The deer are always at my house, feasting on windfall apples, and I doubt one would stay perfectly still for a second anyway.
The waterfall is just 2-3 miles from my house in a big city park.

David, these are good shots. The flowers are framed nicely and sharp all around, but could use a bit more interesting lighting as it seems very flat. Alittle dodging and burning creatively could bring that about some.
The flower shot is good, but as you say has alot of green in it. How about desaturating the bg some, not too much, and letting the colors of the flower stand out more.
The waterfall image is quite nice. The lighting, long exposure, and placement of the foreground elements worked well. Yes , could be more with a deer or something adding to the scene, but for me it's afine scene as you captured it. Good work

I will try, if I remember, to do something different with the second flower tomorrow and see how it looks.

One more thing I'd like to add on the first image is that I would have liked to see it cropped in juuuust a little. My impression is that it is a formidable wall of flowers and seeing the corners wrap away like that takes away from that impression. Better to make it appear flat IMO.

    What's a Loupe for anyway?
