    Re: Water Light Bulb

That's pretty interesting, when I looked at the title and then looked at the image I actually thought it was just a light bulb submerged in water or something.(ah doy doy)

The only thing about this photography is that line that comes down from the "Light Bulb" is distracting me from the object itself, and I think if taken out it would look much better. Are you able to do it? Would you mind if I gave it a try? I really like the photograph and am curious to see what it will look like without the line.

    Nice work.

Neat shot. Like how the black came out so dark. The water droplet DOES look like a bulb, I thought it was one at first. I would clone out the back yellow-orange blurs with the black.

I think I need to try some of these myself.......

Thanks F-15 & GB for your thoughts on this...

I wasn't sure how the blur beneath it would go over, so I left it in for this posting. I kind of like it because it adds to the "light" effect, as if the "bulb" is actually lit...but maybe it actually doesn't work.
F-15, I have no problem if you want to give it a try!

    Thanks again, guys,

Cool F-15! Thanks for doing that...it does show me what it looks like without it. I think I like it to an extent...you know?

    Thanks again!

    Re: Water Light Bulb

Emily, I have to say that now that F-15 has cloned out the background light my preference goes with the original shot. I think that the image needs the additional detail and the image does suggest that the light is coming from the waterdrop itself, to emphasise this, one option could be to remove the word 'Bulb' from your title?

    Thanks for sharing

Thanks for your thoughts on this, Herriot...I like the idea of dropping bulb from the title.

    Re: Water Light Bulb

Emily, I think it looks better with the blur in the bg removed. I think this is good. It could be even stronger if some of the other reflections in the droplet were gone as well, particuliarly the dark one in the middle. If there is a way to do this again but without anything eles in the room behind you being lit (if thats where the reflections are coming from) it may give you a crystal clear pure droplet that I think would give a much stronger image against the black bg. I do like the frame and the negative space here, but perhaps slightly less would help too.
    Good image

Hey Gary...thanks for your thoughts on this. You're right about the darker reflection in the drop, definitely. I believe that's the faucet, actually...so I might have to photoshop that out on the next try...I'm not sure I can find an angle that won't show it in there!
Thank you again for the suggestions!

    Re: Water Light Bulb

    Emily,

I like both of these however, I prefer the one without the blur purely because the blur is the wrong colour for me. If it was closer to pale white then it would work better IMHO.

As to cloning out the dark bit, I thought about this and to me I liked it as it looks like the camera, and it doesn't bother me at all. However the intriguing part is the bright pink glove in the edge of the drop helps offset the dark spot and adds interest.
