Re: Vulnerable
WOW factor! Expertly captured! Great job on the title too. My only tip for improvement would be to add a little more definition in the dark band of clouds right above the house. I lose almost all detail there on my monitor.
Well done!

Re: Vulnerable
Dramatic shot. The buildings have great detail. I agree with the first comment in elevating the definitions in the cloud tones. I bet this makes one hell of a framed print. Good job and very inspiring.

Re: Vulnerable
Hey Seb-
Beautiful tones, depth and sharpness throughout. Just a gorgeous shot. They do indeed look vulnerable on that pretty little farm. Auntie Em! Auntie Em! Heeeeeelllllll.......p!

Re: Vulnerable
Really nice range on tones... wow!
The detail is exceptional and would love to see this in print and BIG.
I would have liked to see a little (jus a lil) more field just because of the great texture, but that is personal preference.
Great job on B&W! Was this digital or on film and what type?
Cheers.

Just kidding!:D It's a good photo made great by your creative composition and stellar photoshop skills. (It does seem a little chopped on the right, if you really want me to find what I believe to be a fault.)

Re: Vulnerable
Wow, thanks everyone. Let me tackle these one by one:
Rick,
I will mess with the clouds some more, that's why I use adjustment layers. :)
Manacsa,
Thank you. I am happy with the detail in the buildings as well.
CLKunst,
Thanks. I try to recreate the feeling I had when I was looking at the scene. Drizzling rain being thrown at you with some strong winds. The flatness of Illinois makes for some quick changing and creepy weather conditions.
Yogestee,
Thanks. :)
Tao,
I have several versions with differing amounts of foreground, they all kind of took away from the imposing clouds IMO. That's why I chose this one. Plus, the wind was shoving me around and I got sick of trying to perfect the framing. :)
Knight,
Thank you.
LL,
The rule of thirds and I have had a bit of a falling out. She doesn't return my phone calls. Something I said about her mother. I agree with you, it does seem a bit too close on the right if you look at it for a little bit. But, I think the overbearing brightness of the two major structures in the middle tends to draw away from it, and that is what I intended to be centered. You know how it is, it's all a balancing act.

I don't use film, this was RAW converted to B&W. Sorry I didn't respond to that earlier.

Re: Vulnerable
Hi Seb,
A very dramatic shot! I especially like the scale (a large part for sky and a small part for the buildings) you used to achieve the "vulnerbility factor". I am also very curious about the neat structure of the houses and tank. I have an impression that they are lego models which make them more vulnerable.

Re: Vulnerable
Very skilfully created Seb and it works so well. The little farm buildings are in real danger of being gobbled up. It's a foreboding scene.
My eyes really want to see how much more of the buildings are hiding to the right.
Excellent indeed.
