VB Pix
University of San Diego vs. Yale.
It's hard to get good action shots. I shot these at 1200 and 1600 ISO with 70-200 mm lens and used noise reduction software when possible.
C&Cs welcome

Re: VB Pix
When shooting VB here, I had similar issues with noise/ISO. I found it really, really helpful to bump EV and be very careful about selectively editing just the foreground elements/people
One other thing, I found that shooting from higher up in the stands so that the light reflected off the floor let me get to 1/1000 and much lower ISO speeds. Although this creates more boring shots compared to getting right on the floor and shooting up towards the net or at net height

Re: VB Pix
Caleb - Thanks. We've watched the USD team many times and we normally sit on the side bleachers. This is the first time we sat behind them. After comparing the shots that I've taken before to these, I think it actually works out better from an action standpoint. But, like you say, there's noise considerations too. I've flirted with getting a D700, once the price comes down a bit (and maybe after I hit the lottery) and I hear its noise is substantially lower. That is one thing about digital cameras that really bothers me... every new camera will have less noise, so if you want better photos you have to buy a completely new camera! Not like the days of just choosing film !!! Phooey ! :(

Re: VB Pix
I think the first two shots are lacking an object which would have to be the ball, it's obvious that's what they are after but I really would have to liked have seen the ball. The noise is also bad but hey you can't do anything about that, if they allow you to use a flash do that also if you have faster glass use that because opening up your f/stops with say f/2.8 would be better than f/5.6 which these were all shot with. I know from experience that all of that equipment costs $$$.
