    Harbor Sunset

Took these with my new D80 a few days ago. I love how the sky colors turned out. I tried not to make the boats too dark. Here are a few of the best shots. What do you think?

I really like the first one because there is more detail in the boats for that one.
Glad you didn't poke any of the masts throught the top of the frame but you might want to clone out the antennae at top of tallest one.
Nice work. Can tell you are presenting in order taken with the light fading.

Really nice. I like the first and the last. Great colors in the sky. You could probably lighten the shadows a bit using PS in that first one to bring out even more detail in the boats without changing the sky. Great shots.

Thanks for the comments. I also like the lighting on the first one the most. I tend to take sunset photos a bit dark to get better colors from the sky, and then I had to brighten these a bit to expose the boats more. If I took more time, I could probably make them look a bit better. #2 and 3 are still a bit on the dark side. Would a graduated ND filter help me out at all?

Here's another. It is too dark, but I like the sky and water:

A graduated ND filter my do the trick but it's two stops. I would diffidently work on a tripod.

I like the third one the best, but the boats are a little dark. If you shot RAW then you could probably open the shadows up a bit without too much problem. Also, using a graduated or split ND filter would also help a lot in these situations. Nice work.

Wooooooo! Neat shots! I really like the colors and silhouettes you captured here. The first is the best, but I think I would like it better with just a tad of the bottom cut off. The 3rd one is also excellent but you might do some PP work on the boat area to bring out some of the detail (too dark as is).

    Re: Harbor Sunset

One of these days, when I have enough spare time I will see if I can fix these shots up at all to look better. I like these shots a lot, so they are worth spending more time on. My only problem is that I don't own Photoshop. I can make it work, though.
