    Skywheel

I thought the original shot of this Ferris wheel would have been better with some motion blur. I used an Orton effect here to give the illusion of movement.

Oh, I remember shooting that skywheel. You've captured it at a good time and nice composition the centering of this and the square shape works for me. But there's a bit of softness I wish wasn't there. I wish it was sharper.

It is soft on purpose. I felt it added something to the shot. The Orton effect is used by combining a blurred layer with the unblurred layer.

Here is the shot before being "Ortonized":

I definitely like the "Ortonized" version. Very nice!

I definitely like the original here (no orton). I guess it's a taste thing. I can see how someone would prefer the first (orton) though.

To me that effect is best used in dreamy scenes, like a field where a woman has flowers blowing out of her hands. or something to that effect, i can imagine it in my head.

The first has a softer - maybe even ethereal - feel to it, but I do not get a sense of motion. – Terry

Yeah, it might be a stretch but that was my original thinking.
