Two old experiments
I got bored and decided to look through some older photos. I ended up looking at these two in particular because they were just experiments that, at the time, I either didnt think were worth doing anything with, or just plain disliked. So keep in mind these were never really finished products, but tell me what you think about them anyway.

And just because I have the link at my fingertips, here's a firework shot from New Years.

Re: Two old experiments
The ideas are good but like you seemed to imply, they are not necessarily great shots. That's no problem because you can always do a reshoot! The top one I like the idea of illuminating the color liquids, but the lighting is too harsh and the flash reflection is a big minus. Try evening out the light with reflector umbrellas/white cloth. Also try exactly centered backlighting. You can do this from below (center) if you can rig it. Note that the bottle on the right is way too dark compared to the left.
The second shot, the idea of the reflection is very good imo, but I find that the borders of the mirror are sooooo thick, they take up too much real estate and are somewhat distracting too. The items being looked at aren't significant enough, imo. The table and items are also a step down in luxury/style of the mirror, so it seems a bit odd. Also, the person (you??) should be wearing something to add to the effect - eg, a robe, hat, etc? Finally, move the items over to the left a tad so that you're directly looking at them.
The fireworks shot is neat. Seems more like electricity than anything. It seems to be missing something however... perhaps a better background or some color. Super fireworks shots are hard to come by... They really require a good backdrop, imo. Maybe a cut and paste?

Re: Two old experiments
Thanks for the comments. I think I may try something with the bottles again (filled with homemade apple cider, one in a brown glass bottle and one in a green glass bottle). I'm just going to forget about the second one, as I did originally, I still dont like it very much.
The bottle shot I took on my first day/try working in my "studio" (which I can make complete darkness and control my lighting). Since then I have learned a lot more, so the bottles may look much better, and I'll post results as soon as I try again. :) I'm all for improvement.
