    Two Cubans and a Beach

Not really a portrait guy, so take her easy on me.

    F5.6
    1/200
    14mm
Flash SB900, mounted on my cam.
Some PP to get them lighter, the flash was dialed down.

    friends of yours ?

Otherwise I do not know how you managed to get them to pose ...

Nice balance of the ambient light and flash even if you needed to do a bit of PP

    The beach is really nice
the guys, hmm, well, they look strong

Very nice image, like it a lot. I would have to think posed, but that's OK. Good moody sky and time of day. Maybe a bit more detail on the face of the gentleman on the left. Beach furniture is ok but I would like to see the heads cloned from the surf.
    Potential.

I agree that there could be a little more detail in the face of the man on the left. I really like this image a lot. Typical beach pictures are not so dramatic and imposing.

Re: Two Cubans and a Beach

It's OK, but I think that their faces are too dark for it to be totally effective. They also seem to be posing for someone else? Maybe I'm just paranoid regarding that, as this happens at model shoots all the time. Not sure the chairs add to the shot. Funny how their clothes seem so old, like another era, but now that I think about it this seems the norm for Cubans (hasn't Castro has been wearing the same OD green outfit for about 50 years?)

GB, no, they were posing for me, sometimes I don't like when the subjects look at the camera. Nah. it's not old clothing lol. It's just the style. they like flashy with stuff written on most things and patterns. Thanks man.

    Thank Greg

Very nice. Just a bit more light on their faces and chests would probably be helpful.

    Thanks Spark and daq.

Yeah I had the flash dialed waaay down. I usually don't shoot with flash and i was a bit wary of over use.
