trying a portrait
I have been trying this portrait photo of this little girl .
Could i ask your opinion of the following ?
Does the photo look flat ?
Did i crop it to much ?
If one do a portrait is it a good idea to try to get so much possible into the frame , and to crop some of the shoulder ( or head ) for that instance ?
All your comments would be appreciated !
Regards

Re: trying a portrait
I think the composition of this one is very nice. I might try using a larger aperture though to give a bit less DOF as the background might be taking away some from this shot. The other thing is that it appears that your WB might be a tad off. The monitor I am looking at is not calibrated so it might just be an issue with what I am seeing here but it looks a bit too red and the saturation looks a bit high. I would probably reduce the saturation, shift the color a bit to the blue end and up the contrast some.

I have to agree with Greg, the DOF is a litlle bit distracting and its red on my monitor too, but it's ease fix in Photoshop CS use the ( image ajustment photo filter and cooling filter 80 or 82 affter that play a litle bit with levels and you are ready to go ) good lucky.

Re: trying a portrait
Thank you Greg and Titano for your time to look and comment .
I am glad you like the composition , i have been working on that .
I agree with with you on the DOF , i will go with a little less DOF . That background is taking away some of the photo.
Your comments are really positive and i can take a lot from it !!

Re: trying a portrait
If you want more opinions then.... I just wanted to add that if it is possible I would try to keep the camera at the same height as her eys so that she doesn't have to look up.
