Trinity
I have a space of about 4ft x 4ft to work in so Trinity is a little closer to the bg than I would have liked. But she didn't cause too much of a shadow so that wasn't too bad.
It was taken with window light and bounced flash.
To me, it's a typical portrait that all the Mum's love but, what do you think?
I know my lighting needs work so is there anything else I could have done to improve this portrait? Including with regard to my lighting. I need to get things right.
Be honest in your cc (good or bad). I CAN take it :)
Just remember who's image it is in the first place and I will be happy.
TIA

Re: Trinity
I don't like that her feet are cut off, but I think babies have cute feet. I wish there was a little more contrast between her dress, and the backdrop and the phone. Nothing really seems to pop out to me. I think you could probably correct all of this photo shop with some levels adjustments. I like that it isn't posed but more like her actually playing and it just happened to be in a studio setting. I think those make for the best portraits. You're almost there just need a little more work. I would be proud of it as it is.

Re: Trinity
Hi - I think that if you had to lose the feet (prob due to aspect ratio of the camera) then you might want to clip off everything below the bottom of the dress. Personally, I think it's a very nice photo. The colors and activity are great. But I do agree that it might be missing a big-time punchline. But this is baby pictures and not glamour models, right? You can't pose them as you would a supermodel, so... I would be happy with it.

Re: Trinity
Thank you so much for your comments.
She wasn't co-operating that day and just wouldn't look at the camera. This was the best of a bad bunch.
I cut off her feet due to one of her feet being cut off in camera maybe I should have attached my kit lens. (I think I used my 50mm 1.8 lens) but I really don't think I have enough room, for this lens, in my house unless I am doing close ups of course.
I tried cropping above her legs but it cropped off too much of the phone :(
I couldn't win with this one lol.
I know what you mean about the image not speaking to you though. That's exactly how I felt when I looked at my results. Maybe I can bribe her with some bubbles or chocolate buttons for a re-shoot lol!
* So my lighting is ok in this one?
I had a go at editing it a little more. Darkened my levels a little and added a colour flashback filter in VP.
* Any better?
zrfraser & GB - Please feel free to take my image and demonstrate what you mean. Thank you.
