Trees of Color
Took this shot during a day at Perkins Point in Bear Mountain N.Y while there with my son. Took lots of shots of various scenes, and was not up to my expectations on most of them. Your feelings on this scene . . . . . Thanks

Very nice Gary!. It is well exposed and sharp. No blown out highlights, no balck shadows either. And the foreground is also interesting and make a nice contrast with the trees.
However, I do have a problem with the horizon. The position of the clouds and the horizon line do not look straight to me... even though the tree trunks seem to be vertical...
Definitely a keeper.
Cheers,
Steph.

NIce job. I would agree with Steph, nice colors, sharpness, foreground, exposure, etc.
I didn't notice the tilted horizon at first glance, but after reading the comment and looking at the photo again, it does bother me a bit.
Would love to see some of the other shots from that day,
SJ

Don t want to speak about the tiltet horizon or other technical details which could disturb the next viewer ,,, just my feelings: love the colours, the subject .... and want to go there and enjoy the scenery ... although it might not be that beautiful in reality

Re: Trees of Color
I find this shot absolutely breathtaking. It is so crisp and clear. Out of everything, though, the sky really does it for me. It's like I can almost see the clouds moving. Thanks for sharing! :)

Re: Trees of Color
I like this shot. The colors are just popping out. I love the green of the trees against the blue sky and how you can see the Autumn colors slowly creeping in through the leaves.

Re: Trees of Color
Gary, I like it! I see what people are saying about the horizon and the cloud line, and that is exactly what I like about this Capture.
I feel like everything the clouds, the trees, the rocks on either side are all coming to meet in the middle. Excellent color and Interesting Reds in the Trees. Besides, you were on a hill right? ( Perkins Point in Bear Mountain) Well, this photo makes me feel like I'm up there too, watching the clouds roll in... Hope you enjoyed your day there.

I really like the trees, and the saturation and the overall feel. My only distraction are the large rocks that seem to take away from the trees. Do you have any of that scene where the trees are more of the focal point?
Overall I really like the shot.

I can see myself resting on one of those big rocks, feeling both the warmth of the sun and the chill of a fall breeze. Nice work.

Re: Trees of Color
Steph. . . appreciate your thoughts on this. About the tilt, this was a slope and the trees are descending. This was a new film I tried Kodak Ultra Color 100. It seems to produce very white whites without blowing them out and nice colors without oversaturating them like some other films. fine grain as well, but pricey.
SJ . . . Thanks for the time to comment. I do have some other shots of that day, but nothing that I was completely happy with. Will be going back within a week or two as the colors should be on fire about then.
PhotoScheu. . . .I appreciate your thoughts on the image. Glad it was positive for you. And it was just as beautiful and more than this little glimpse I could capture.
TwinsinParadise. . . . Great that you see it like that.I too, like the clear blue sky and the colors against it. Your positive comments are much appreciated. Thanks
Todd . . . lol actually, its more like colors in the making. You coming from the New England area have colors in the Autumn like nowhere in this world. But upstate here in N.Y, we can give you a run for your money in the prime ;)
Nina. . . Thanks ;) Thats exactly it, colors slowly coming in. Evidence of what was and what will soon become.
Rachel . . . .As always, thanks for the time to comment. Yes, this is actually a high point in this area and the trees are on a slope leading down into the Hudson Valley. The small area of horizon in the right side of the frame is the valley with the Hudson river down below. The elevation is very high and one can see for hundreds of miles all around. glad you liked this.
Loren. . .I appreciate your thoughts on this. I was wondering if anyone was going to mention the big rocks in the foreground. I personally like putting elements in the foreground, to the point sometimes where they could be the main attraction. I know this might not go over well with everyone, and maybe it should not. glad you brought it up. Unfortunately i don't have any others of these trees, just some isolated single tree shots and other stuff. Actually, I do have one from a lake that was in the area, and would like some feedback on that one. Also has lots of trees changing colors surrounding the lake. Thanks for your time
Bill. . .thats just how it was. The air was crisp and very cool with gusty winds blowing through the mountain air, but as long as the sun was shining through the clouds, it kept it comfortable. Thanks for your thoughts.

Re: Trees of Color
Nice image Gary, I don't think I have much to add was has been said before.
I do want to say one thing; you're an example for others the way you reply to those who take the time to comment on your shots. I really think you deserve the credit for that. ;)
