    A Tramp in the Woods

    Hi all

I went off for a long walk in some woods near me. At this time of the year the bluebells carpet a lot of woodland over Southern England. These are a few of the shots I came home with.

As always, any comments are appreciated.

    Cheers

Mike, that third shot (bottom) is wonderfully composed and exposed. When I saw the title, I thought this was going to be a vagabond sitting by a fire.

All three are good recordings of a very pleasent scene. But Number 2, being less a cliched image than the others, is my favourite. The rectangle of yellow background makes a lovely contribution to what already is a very good composition. The two "feet" of the imposing tree and the bluebells in between are very nice.

I can't make up my mind if I like the first or not. The horizontal yellow line of leaves is dramatic but maybe too much so.
I definitly like the second. Great composition.
Not sure about the focal point in the third or it needs more dof. Personal taste.

    Mike,

I was hoping to go to the woods tomorrow for the same reason LOL:

Love the first with the yellow leaves, but their all lovely.

Great shots Mike. Like 'em all but, to me #2 is the winner Can't wait to start getting some color here. Went out hiking today and everything is still brown

Re: A Tramp in the Woods

Thanks guys for your kind words. Personally, I prefer #2 as well out of all of them.

Frog: when I took it I was aware of the dof issue, and took about half a dozen, identical except for varying apertures to get different depth of fields. As you say, it's a matter of taste on that one.

Re: A Tramp in the Woods

Mike all of these are wonderful. Your compositional skills are great as always. The only critique I have is for slightly different crops. On #2 I think that I would crop just a little at the top, maybe half of the distant woods and #3 I think that I would crop out the roots at the bottom about half way up to the carvings. They are all beautiful pictures, well done as always.

Re: A Tramp in the Woods

Greg - thanks for that. On reflection, I agree with your crop suggestion for #2. Not sure about the suggestion for #3 though, at least as currently composed - I will meditate on that one

    Nicely captured.
