    old house windows

    Hi..

I took the D2H and a Tokina 12-24mm for a walk around the house in Brooklyn and find this old house with a church across the street, the rest in in the photo...
    C.C. appreciated.

I love the stairs and the door! If you had a cropped version of that in the same size of this photo, It would be perfect. Other than that, the composition and exposure are top notch.

    Re: old house windows

Might be a tad too dark but like the feel overall.
Quite the contrast between the cross on one side and bare branches on other.
Might want to get rid of the white wire/cable by right side window.

    Re: old house windows

There is something vaguely creepy about this building: the imposing and worn stairs, the cross in the window, the reflection of dead trees in the windows. It could almost be used as a location for The Omen

I agree though that it is a little dark.

Shame you didn't get the bottom of the step, I agree with the other on the dark, needs a little PP.

I like the unearthly feel to the building and reflection of the leafless tree and the cross add to it wonderfully. Nice touch keeping the creepers dangling off the roof, by just the right amount.

I agree with Frog about the cable and its a shame it wasnt #666

Mike the Omen! I keep expecting Lurch to come to answer the door.

    Nicely captured

    Re: old house windows

To me it looks as though the door is leaning left probably because you didn't shoot it dead on, also the window on the left is partially cut out of the frame. You also have different amounts of space between the post. I feel on shots like this it's well worth the time to line every thing up staight and level, but it can also be tough to do when you are dealing with old buildings. But I find the subject very interesting and would think that a reshoot would well be worth your time. Nice work on the exposure, focus and nice choice for a B&W.

great texture on the stairs and i feel like i have to look up at the door. nice effect. i agree that it is just a tad dark but it helps set the mood of the house. the cross in the window with the bareness of the trees makes me want to visit this house oct. 31.
