    Could be a bit sharper.
    mostly Nikon gear

    Good shot, but I agree that it needs sharpening. Did it move while exposing?

    I don't know what you mean by "unusual shape." It's a couple days before full, and it looks just like that every time it's a couple days before full.

    I've done a couple of nice shots of the moon with my Nikon 70-300 VR, even hand-held. I'm amazed at the sky pictures we can take with modern digital cameras that I never dreamed of back in the film days.
