    Do You See Calvin Klein?

Inspired by a CK's advert in the late 90s. What do you think?

Sorry Yoyo....without knowing the original ad that inspired you, I couldn't tell you if CKs influence is visible.

I like the building color. Consider isolating the 9 balconies in a creative crop perhaps?

Yoyo Szeto,,it has potential...These types of subjects are a challenge but you have handled this one ok..I like the muted colours,,it appears to be an overcast day..Crop out the building on the far right and a few less people would improve it greatly..
    Also,,Eric has a good point..

    BTW,,where was it taken??

Hi manacsa, Thanks for commenting on this pic. Your suggestion is good.

Hi Jurgen, Thanks again for the comments. The shot was taken in the western district of Hong Kong. The building is a protected heritage. I appreciate your suggestion about the cropping. I understand that the cropping would give the shot a neater perception. The original idea is to subtlely show the building is not isolated but is surrounded by other tall buildings (top right corner).

Hi Yoyo...I think a different crop will definitely make this shot work better for me. I like the colors in here, the little splashes like the shirts hanging from one of the balconies.

    Interesting shot!

Re: Do You See Calvin Klein?

Most of the West didn't see the ad you are referring to with this image. There was a whole series of ads shot I believe in the post war part of industrial Suzuka in Japan that you had to have seen the right publications to be aware of.

Interesting image, but it seems to need a different set of proportions to be effective to show the differences in structure (the whole sub theme of that Calvin Klein campaign).

I can't find the name of the ad designers at the moment, but the conceptulization was that what we saw every day and was common, like blue jeans and casual wear, could be elevated to a different status through careful attention to design and presentation in the realm of perspective. Its how what is presented to you is looked at as opposed to a casual observation.

Interesting take, have you tried any others that are similar?
