    Tick Tock

    Hi all

A little thing called 'Tick Tock'. My club has an annual competition called The Master Photographer where the entrants have to creatively interpret a series of six set subjects. One of the subjects this year is 'The Passage of Time'. I thought that most entrants would go for blurry people or something like that, so I wanted to try something a little different.

    Cheers

Just wondering how it would look if the frames got progressively darker as they receded, leaving the clock frame as is. The relevance of the foreground shrubbery has me a little puzzled.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

I certainly love the idea, it is very creative. Personally, I would like to see the clock as more related to the element it appears to be in. In other words, maybe some raindrops or some kind of wear and tear.

    I like the idea.

How about having the limbs in the foreground show the 4 seasons?

Just a thought while I was "passing time".

Mike - Hey this is different! I like the idea of the frame being there with the branches 'growing' below it, but I think that maybe a little should be cropped off the top to remove that negative space, as it seems so 'open' up there. With geometrics, my eye really needs everything to be perfectly straight: this ones appears so, but at the same time there seems to be something a tad imperfect about it ... maybe the negative space on the right a little more than the left? (hard to say).

    Thanks guys for your input.

Re the branches - I first did a version with just the frames and clock, but the image was a little sterile and symmetrical. It needed something at the bottom to anchor the image. I thought the branches did this as well as the loss of foliage suggesting the passage of time in a winter kind of way.

GB ... good idea about the top I think - and I will certainly check to ensure the left and right are symmetrical.
