    Taylor

I have another photo up for Critique. I shot this with an old 35mm film lens that one of my teachers let me borrow. It's the Nikon 180mm F2.8 lens. (Non autofocus version) So I took some shots with it today of my Brother's girlfriend while she was here just to test how sharp this lens really is. So here is one of the finished images. It has had nothing done to it besides a preset which I made sure it didn't sharpen or boost the clarity in any way. Still amazed at how sharp this lens really is.

I think the bokeh in the upper part of the shot is to much and takes away from the subject. Crop it just above her head.

You know, I noticed that too, but I was afraid if I cropped it, it would take away from the picture. I just might try that and see what it turns out like.

It does have a dreamy kind of look I like, maybe crop just half of the top. The bokeh makes kind of a circle. Maybe just above that. Nikon makes some awesome glass. As is the girls eyes are dead center frame. I think her eyes would look better in the upper third.

Were you talking about something like this?

I took it and cropped it half way down the bokeh like you said. It did make for a slightly better picture.

Do you have the same shot with her smiling, to me in this one she looks as though she's not too keen on being there. Posture and facial expression say " you going to be long ? "

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

Sadly, no. She wouldn't smile for me though. I tried to get her to smile, but it just wouldn't happen. I mean, we all would laugh and smile during breaks in between pictures, but as for smiling during a picture, no.

Ya, some folks just won't smile for the camera.

Still I like the photo just fine and I think the crop improves it a bit, the extra space above her it the original just didn't add anything for me.

    Nice shot.
    No, I DON'T need that.
