Tanzanian Market
Markets I saw in Tanzania were pretty grass-root: they display their food/grains/meats in very bazaar-like style. I paid the woman on the right $1 to take her photo.. had a slightly ugly situation a few minutes prior where I tried to take a photo of some vendors and they got upset... one came by and placed her hand over my lens. Someone told me that some in Tanzania still feel that taking their photo will steal their soul. But.. they will let you take it if you pay them (I guess their soul is for sale, eh?).
C&C welcome.

Re: Tanzanian Market
great shot, worth the $1. Have you tried cropping the woman on the right by herself vertically and making it into a b&w portrait?

Re: Tanzanian Market
Really nice shot this GB.
The exposure is fine but I feel it is worth loosing the portion above the wall in the BG. This I feel gets us even closer to that wonderful expression.

Re: Tanzanian Market
I agree with Caleb..........that woman on the right has a killer expression.........everything else pulls my eye away.
Great exposure...great colors.
I love her face.

Re: Tanzanian Market
Thks for your comments. Len, Caleb.. Here's a crop - not too bad, though I miss some of the interesting context. But I agree that the left side woman just can't compete with the one on the right. Caleb, I tried desaturating it and she got lost in the background. Tom, your wish is my command - no more wall. What do you think? I'm not sure.... it loses depth I think.
I agree btw - definitely worth the $1 for her to pose (wish models were that inexpensive here in the U.S.)

Re: Tanzanian Market
Hi GB,
I like the crop better but it looks very contrasty compared to the original post. Welcome back btw. Loving all these shots from your adventure, keep em comin! I may not reply to all of em, but I'll sure be viewing em all!
EDIT: I've gone to your posting history and you've been back for a bit already.. I haven't been hanging around the forum that much lately, so you've snuck in under my radar haha..

Re: Tanzanian Market
GB I actually like the shot with both women; my suggestion was just to remove the top area down to the top of the wall. But the single woman shot is really good too.

Re: Tanzanian Market
I think the crop is an excellent picture that might be in a magazine. Seeing the expression you received from the woman on the right for $1.00 I just have to wonder what the picture would have looked like if you had given the woman on the left $1.00 also, Jeff

Re: Tanzanian Market
Outstanding shot. I personally like the first shot best, the colors and amazing and I like the feel of the 2 women, almost opposite expressions adds something to it for me. What an intersting trip! You could title it "Souls for a buck" lol, teasing, but that just tickles me for some reason
